客舍

This being human is a guest house

Every morning is a new arrival

A joy, a depression, a meanness, 

some momentary awareness comes 

as an unexpected visitor. 

Welcome and entertain them all! 

Even if they're a crowd of sorrows, 

who violently sweep your house 

empty of its furniture, 

still, treat each guest honourably. 

He may be clearing you out 

for some new delight. 

The dark thought, the shame, the malice, 

meet them at the door laughing, 

and invite them in. 

Be grateful for whoever comes, 

because each has been sent 

as a guide from beyond.

朝朝客新

或名喜悦，或名沮丧，或名刻薄

当下之客

翕然而至

相迎款待

不拒众苦

扫荡家宅

洗劫陈设

诚敬一如

可为消业

增益于福

含笑迎请

感恩来客

个个皆是

彼岸接引

但有言说，皆无实意

All are mere words, of what use are they to you? 
You are entangled in the web of verbal definitions and formulations. 
Go beyond your concepts and ideas;
